Urgent iOS 12.5.5 Patch Issued To Close Zero-Day Exploit On Older iPhones

It has been a few years since iOS 12 was released, but it looks like Apple has since released a new update in the form of iOS 12.5.5. According to Apple, this update is expected to patch several exploits and vulnerabilities that have been discovered and that are targeting devices that run on older builds of iOS 12.

It should be noted that this update is aimed at users who have devices that cannot be updated to iOS 13 due to them being too old and incompatible. Presumably these issues do not affect newer devices like those running iOS 13 or later, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled for more details should any surface.

According to Apple, this will apply to devices like the iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad Air, iPad mini 2, iPad mini 3, and iPod touch (6th generation), so if you own any of these devices then you’ll want to update to iOS 12.5.5 ASAP to prevent any potential attackers from targeting your devices with this exploit.

The update should already be live for all devices so head on over to your phone’s Settings and check for the update.
