Early Apple A15 Benchmarks Show Impressive Gains Over The A14

Apple’s iPhone 13 is expected to come with a brand new chipset, most likely the A15 Bionic, or whatever Apple plans to call it. So what can we expect from it compared to the A14, the chipset used in the iPhone 12 series? According to benchmarks shared on Twitter by Tron, huge graphical improvements might be one of them.

Based on the benchmarks which were initially posted on Clien, the A15 managed to score a peak performance of 198 FPS on the Manhattan 3.1 benchmark. However, subsequent tests saw it drop down to around 140-150 FPS. This seems like a massive dip, but as Tron notes in an older tweet, the A14 scored 120 FPS in the same benchmark, so even after the drop, it still outperforms the A14 by quite a considerable margin.

Also, it should be noted that the benchmarks were apparently conducted in July based on a sample. This means that it hasn’t been optimized yet and we imagine that Apple has probably made further tweaks to improve and stabilize its performance since, so we’ll have to wait for the new iPhones to get a better idea of how well it will perform.

Apple has since confirmed that they will be hosting an event on the 14th of September where we will most likely see the new iPhone 13s and the Apple Watch Series 7 announced, so check back with us then for more updates.
