Last week, we reported that Amazon could be working on a new Echo device that would take the shape of a wall-mounted display. It looks like the rumors were right on the money because the company has since unveiled their brand new Echo Show 15, a 15-inch small display that’s designed to be mounted on the wall.
Amazon is no stranger to smart displays, but this display sits a little differently in that it acts more like a peg board of sorts, or even a picture frame as you can see from its design. This is versus other Echo smart displays that look like speakers with a built-in display.
With the new Echo Show 15, Amazon has introduced a refreshed widget system that lets users create things like family reminders, display the weather, smart home notifications, stream camera video feeds, display photos, and more. There is also a new Visual ID system that apparently displays content automatically based on who’s in the room.
It sounds kind of creepy, but at the same time useful. The new Amazon Echo Show 15 is priced at $150 and is expected to be available for purchase later this year, so keep an eye out for it if it sounds like something you might be able to find useful.
