However, don’t get too excited just yet because according to Kuo, while the iPhone 14 might drop the notch, the analyst believes that Apple will replace it with a hole-punch display instead, similar to what we’re seeing on other Android phones. We suppose this is less obvious compared to the notch, but it won’t be a true edge-to-edge display just yet.
Also, according to Kuo, for those hoping that 2022’s iPhones will see the return of Touch ID, apparently that will not be happening. The analyst claims that Apple is still apparently working on an in-display Touch ID solution, but apparently that will only debut in 2023’s iPhones, not next year’s models.
It is unclear why Apple is taking this long to implement the technology. Android phones with in-display fingerprint sensors have existed for several years now, so we’re not sure how much better or different Apple’s system is if they’re taking this long, but either way, don’t expect to see it anytime soon (or at all).
