For those who missed the announcement, these are the latest smartwatches from Samsung which will also be running the new Wear OS platform that they collaborated with Google on. What’s interesting is that possibly as a result of this collaboration, the new Galaxy Watch 4 watches will not support iOS.
This means that if you own an iPhone and have been using it together with Samsung’s older Galaxy Watch series, the latest model will no longer play nice with Apple’s mobile platform. However, Samsung did confirm to ArsTechnica that as far as older Galaxy Watch devices are concerned, they will remain compatible with iOS and that they will continue to support it for now.
We’re sure that there are going to be some iPhone users who will be disappointed by this, but to be fair there are still plenty of non-Apple Watch alternatives out there, so hopefully these users will be able to find something else.
