For those unfamiliar, at Google I/O 2021, Google announced that they would be working with Samsung to revamp its Wear OS platform, and it looks like the new Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic will be the first devices that will be using it.
In terms of features, Samsung has equipped the watches with its BioActive Sensor which they claim is smaller than traditional sensors and hosts a 3-in-1 solution which includes an optical heart rate sensor, an electrical heart, and bioelectric impedance analysis sensor.
These sensors can be used to monitor a variety of things related to health, such as heart rate, Afib detection, blood oxygen levels, and even blood pressure. Samsung also says that for the first time ever, their new Galaxy Watch can even calculate body composition, which is useful if you’re trying to figure out muscle or fat percentages.
As expected of a smartwatch, there are various workout and activity modes that users can choose from. There are built-in guided workouts, Group Challenges, and more. Users with a compatible Samsung Smart TV will also be able to link and connect their device to their TVs for better viewing.
Under the hood, the Galaxy Watch 4 has also been given an upgrade where we’re looking at a 20% faster CPU, 50% more RAM, and a GPU that Samsung claims is 10 times faster than the previous generation.
In terms of pricing, the Galaxy Watch 4 will be priced at $250 for the Bluetooth model, and $300 for the LTE one. The Galaxy Watch 4 Classic will be slightly pricier at $350 for Bluetooth, and $400 for LTE.
