According to a report from NorthJersey.com, an unnamed woman from West Milford, New Jersey, managed to send out an emergency text from her Apple Watch after someone broke into her home and handcuffed her. The woman claims she walked in on the burglar armed with an airsoft gun where he threatened her with it (she did not know it wasn’t a real gun at that time).
He then asked her to remove her clothes to ensure she wasn’t carrying a weapon, before handcuffing her hands behind her back and leaving her on the floor. She later complained she was cold and the man handcuffed her to the bed, where with her one free hand, she managed to send a text message to her mom who was apparently just upstairs, asking her to call the police.
Her mom wasn’t sure if the message was real and went downstairs only to encounter the burglar, where he took $11 off her before fleeing. However, police saw him exiting the house and arrested him. He was later charged with armed robbery, burglary, kidnapping, aggravated assault, possession of handcuffs and burglar’s tools, false imprisonment and weapons charges.
