The report reads, “The smartwatch attach-rates for smartphones have been steadily rising. Apple’s ecosystem is seeing a greater attach rate as the brand continues to bake in attractive designs, health features and related services around it. Apple Watch’s user base crossed the 100-million mark for the first time during the quarter ended June, capturing the lion’s share of the smartwatch user base globally.”
It goes on to state that the US is one of Apple’s key markets and accounts for more than half of their user base. It also says that the pandemic has fueled the demand for smartwatches, not just the Apple Watch, as it has made people more health conscious and they are now seeking wearables that can give them insights into their health.
It is expected that there will be an Apple Watch Series 7 launched later this year, possibly alongside the iPhone 13 in September. It is rumored to feature a brand new design which could possibly help drive the demand even more.
