Apple’s AirTag accessory has been designed to help you keep track of items like keys or bags. It’s not necessarily meant to be used to locate items halfway around the world, which is what German YouTube channel MegaLag wanted to find out when he sent several AirTags around the world.
He sent one to Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk where it was apparently later sent to a recycling center. He also tried sending one to North Korea, but it was rerouted to South Korea where it disappeared as the Find My network isn’t available in the country due to regulations. However, the third AirTag he sent was to Apple’s CEO Tim Cook, where it was received and later sent back to MegaLag with a latter.
It wasn’t a personally written letter but it does acknowledge that the AirTag was received and they applauded him for his creative use of it.
“Thank you for sharing about your project for Apple AirTags. We’re delighted to hear about creative uses for AirTags and how they can improve our customers’ lives. As you can imagine, Mr. Cook receives hundreds of letters each month from customers like yourself. Unfortunately he is unable to respond to every request. But we hope you continue to enjoy your AirTag as it returns from its unique journey across the world!”
