Qualcomm is a company many of you might be familiar with. The company supplies the majority of chipsets to low, mid, and high-end phones, as well as 5G modems. That’s pretty much the company’s involvement with smartphones. However, it seems that they might now be interested in actually launching a phone themselves.

So much so that they have announced a partnership with ASUS for a device that they’re calling the Smartphone for Snapdragon Insiders. It’s not the most catchy of names, but it’s supposed to  be a smartphone with all the highest-end features designed for hardcore users and enthusiasts in mind. Oh, it also won’t come cheap at $1,500, so let’s see how they plan to justify the price.

For that price, we’re talking about the use of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset, 16GB of RAM, a 6.78-inch AMOLED 2448×1080 display with a 144Hz refresh rate, 5G support, and 512GB of storage. It will also feature a triple camera system on the back with a 64MP main shooter, an 8MP telephoto lens, and a 12MP ultrawide shooter.

The phone also features dual stereo speakers and a rear-mounted Gen 2 3D Sonic fingerprint sensor. It also comes with certain exclusive software features like the Snapdragon Elite Gaming and Snapdragon Sound.

To further justify the price, the handset will also be bundled with Master & Dynamic true wireless earbuds with ANC, a 65W Qualcomm Quick Charge 5 charger, a custom rubber bumper accessory, and some cables. If you’re interested, the phone is expected to launch in the US, UK, Japan, and South Korea next month.
