Apple Officially Launches Its MagSafe Battery Pack

When Apple first announced MagSafe for the iPhone, accessory makers were quick to jump on the bandwagon, where one of them produced a battery pack that used MagSafe to not only connect and charge the iPhone, but it did so without the need for wires or a special case. It was later rumored that Apple could be working on something similar.

It looks like there is no need to speculate anymore because Apple has since officially taken the wraps off its official MagSafe battery pack accessory for the iPhone. It pretty much comes only in one size and will fit on the entire iPhone 12 lineup, so depending on your model, it might be a bigger fit on some compared to others, as you can see in the photo above.

The MagSafe Battery Pack charges at 5W, which is kind of slow so if you needed something faster, you might have to look elsewhere. It has a 7.62V 11.13Wh 1,460mAh battery inside which means that it won’t charge any of Apple’s iPhones to full. This is rather odd but perhaps Apple’s intention was to simply provide users with an extra jolt of power if they need it.

The MagSafe Battery Pack does not come cheap either at $99, so given the specs, it might be a tough pill to swallow for some. However, if you prefer official accessories over third-party ones, then we suppose this will have to do.
