Google Calendar Invites Lets You Specify Physical Or Virtual Attendance

With the pandemic, a lot of people are being forced to work and study from home. This means that meetings that used to be held in person are now being held virtually. However, as more people get vaccinated, we’re starting to see the return to some semblance of normalcy, although there are some companies who are embracing a more hybrid work environment.

If you work in such a company, then you might be interested to learn that Google has recently made some small changes to Calendar invites where it seems that users can now specify if they are attending a meeting in person, like physically, or virtually. According to Google, “Then, both the organizer and guests will be able to see how attendees are planning to attend the meeting in the event detail. This will help meeting attendees know what to expect when joining a meeting, and prepare accordingly.”

It’s an interesting change and it’s not a particularly big one, but given the current climate that we are living and operating in, it might come in handy. Being able to tell which participants are virtual will help organizers plan around meetings easier, like maybe by having those participants send in their work ahead of time so that printouts can be made for those in attendance and so on.

According to Google, this change will be rolling out tomorrow and will be available for all Workspace customers in the coming weeks.
