This comes in the form of support of BIMI, one of which includes verified company logos. This means that when you receive an email from a verified company, their logo will show in the email so that you know it’s from them. This feature was actually announced last year but it looks like it is now rolling out as we speak.
According to Google, “BIMI enables organizations that authenticate their emails using Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting, and Conformance (DMARC)—a standard for providing strong sender authentication that allows security systems to perform better filtering, separating legitimate messages from potentially spoofed ones—to validate ownership of their logos and securely transmit them to Google.”
Will this help cut down on email scams like phishing? Perhaps, but the next time you open your email and start seeing company logos next to new emails, you can rest assured that for the most part, these are emails you can trust, although you should still practice awareness just to be safe.
