So if you’re signed up to take part in the WhatsApp beta for iOS, then this could be something you can check out. For those who are unfamiliar, WhatsApp’s current disappearing messages feature will delete messages after 7 days have passed. However, for those who prefer a shorter duration, this isn’t possible.
This is where this feature comes in, where users can set it so that once a photo or video has been opened, it will disappear from the chat after that. This is more akin to how Snapchat does things and might be better for more sensitive materials. However, WhatsApp does caution users that the other person can screenshot or screen record the content anyway, but assuming that they don’t, this could be a more private way of sending sensitive messages.
That being said, this is currently only in the beta which means that for those not part of TestFlight, you’ll have to wait for the official release, which at the moment it is unclear when that will be.
