14-inch And 16-inch MacBook Pro Will Come With Upgraded Webcam

One of the biggest gripes that Mac users have had over the many, many years is how terrible the built-in webcam is. Given that some Mac configurations cost $2,000 and over, it seems downright ridiculous that they are still bundled with 720p webcams, especially in a day and age where we’re already seeing 4K webcams from accessory makers.

That being said, there is some good news on that front. According to a tweet by leakster Dylandkt, they claim that for the upcoming redesigned 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro, the laptops will actually get an upgrade in the webcam department where the webcams will now be bumped to 1080p.

Honestly, we would have preferred something of a higher resolution for better futureproofing, but 1080p is a much welcome upgrade over the 720p webcam that was previously bundled with the laptops. This is actually not the first time that Apple has upgraded the webcam. With the 2019 27-inch iMac, that was actually the first computer from Apple to get the upgrade.

However, for whatever reason, Apple ignored both the M1 MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro, instead opting to give it software improvements. In any case, if webcam quality has always been an issue for you, then maybe the upcoming redesigned MacBook Pros could finally address that.
