Apple’s restrictions have made it rather difficult for developers and companies to put their streaming services onto iOS devices, at least as far as official apps are concerned. This is why many have instead turned to workarounds like making their service playable and available through Safari.
Microsoft is one of those companies and after a period of beta testing, the good news is that if you were keen on playing Xbox games through your iPhone, you’ll be able to do just that. According to Microsoft, “Starting today, Xbox Cloud Gaming is available to all Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members with Windows 10 PCs and Apple phones and tablets, via browser, across 22 countries.”
Gamers will also be able to use controllers either over Bluetooth or USB to play the games. If you want to take advantage of this game streaming, you will of course need a subscription to Microsoft’s Game Pass Ultimate service. This will give you access to streaming among other features part of the subscription, like Xbox Live Gold and also Xbox Game Pass.
Unlike some other services like Stadia where you’re required to purchase the individual games to stream them, Microsoft’s approach is more akin to Netflix where a subscription will unlock access to the library of games.
