WhatsApp Might Soon Call You Instead Of Sending SMS For Verification
According to the website, this will involve the use of flash calls where WhatsApp will call your phone number and automatically end the call right away. This is done to verify that the last number in your phone’s log is the same as the number that gives you the usual 6-digit OTP code. As the number will always be different, the idea is that this is a more secure method of verifying users.
For those who might use WhatsApp on one device that has a different number, we imagine that this could pose a problem. However, we have heard recently that WhatsApp is working on bringing multi-device support to its platform, meaning that one WhatsApp account can be accessed on multiple devices at once, so that should solve the issue.
We have no word on when this feature is expected to go live, but we’ll be keeping an eye out for it in the future.
