However, it seems that for now this support will only be extended to Samsung’s enterprise devices, and even then, it will cover the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, Galaxy S20 Ultra, Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, Galaxy XCover 5, and the Galaxy Tab Active 3. However, do note that this five years of support is from the date the phone was launched, not the date of your purchase, so if you bought the phone a year or two into its lifecycle, you would only get three more years of support.
That being said, it’s still a good thing. Android devices have gotten a bad rep over the years for not being particularly well-supported. This is versus Apple’s iPhones and iPads which tend to be supported for much longer periods of time. We’re not sure if Samsung plans to eventually extend this five year support to non-enterprise handsets, but hopefully they will as extended support would help customers have better faith in their products.
