At the moment, how the iPad handles multitasking is by allowing two apps to run side-by-side. However, if you want to keep more than two apps open at the same time, the third app will kind of hover over the other two, which isn’t exactly ideal and not so great if you plan to use the iPad as a laptop replacement.
However, the report claims that Apple will make improvements in iPadOS 15 that will make multitasking better. According to Mark Gurman, he claims that this will make it easier for users to operate multiple apps at the same time, but he stopped short of going into details, but suffice to say that many are looking forward to the changes.
This is because with the last iPad refresh, Apple introduced the M1 chipset to the new iPad Pros, blurring the line further between Apple’s MacBooks and iPads. However, many are saying that the software on the iPad is holding it back so hopefully iPadOS 15 will come with the changes and improvements that everyone’s been asking for.
