Following the success of GTA 5, many are wondering if Rockstar will be able to replicate their success and even grow on it with GTA 6. However, if you were hoping to see GTA 6 anytime soon, you might be disappointed because it turns out that we’ll probably have to wait a few more years.
This is according to leakster Tom Henderson, who has in the past provided fairly accurate leaks on games, and assuming that he’s correct this time as well, it seems that GTA 6 will most likely be released either in 2024 or 2025, meaning that we still have about 2-3 years left of waiting to do before we see a trailer or announcement for the game, let alone the game itself.
However, what this also means is that it would have been about 12 years since GTA 5 was launched. This is actually a very long time in between series, but to be fair, Rockstar has kept the game relevant all these years with GTA Online that lets players continue to enjoy the game beyond its original scope with multiplayer features.
As to why Rockstar has been waiting this year, the reason Henderson claims is because Rockstar wants to focus on the well-being of their employees and to avoid creating a crunch culture, meaning that developers overwork themselves in order to meet deadlines. The company is also trying to ensure the game is as polished as possible so that it can hit its release date without delays.
Another reason is because Rockstar wants to release the game for next-gen consoles and given the current shortage, they are waiting for a “big enough market” before releasing it, which actually kind of makes sense, but either way with nothing official confirmed yet, we’ll just have to wait and see.
