Due to the global chip shortage and also high demand for modern consoles like the Xbox Series X and S, you’re not alone if you’re finding it a bit difficult to get your hands on either console. However, Microsoft is hoping to increase your chances if you happen to be an Xbox Insider, according to a tweet by the company.
According to Microsoft, those who are taking part in its Xbox Insider program are now being given a chance to reserve either the Xbox Series X or Series S. This is part of a new initiative that Microsoft is calling its Console Purchase Pilot program. However, it should be noted that just because you register doesn’t mean you’ll get it.
Today we're introducing the Console Purchase Pilot, allowing US #XboxInsiders on Xbox One to register for a chance to reserve an Xbox Series X|S console. Microsoft cautions that not everyone who registers to be part of this program will necessarily get a reservation for either console. However, we imagine that this will increase your chances versus trying to compete with the general public and console scalpers. If you’ve been trying your luck but have been failing, then this might be the next best thing.
Microsoft did previously warn that Xbox Series X could face shortages until at least April 2021. It is unclear if the situation is any better now, but like we said, if you’ve been trying and failing, maybe the Console Purchase Pilot program could be worth considering.
