According to the developer, the M1X is expected to be a slightly more powerful version of the M1. “The M1X is an extension of the M1 that will contain more thunderbolt channels, cpu cores, gpu cores, multiple external monitor support, and greater power draw. These devices will both feature a 1080p webcam, SD card reader, three thunderbolt usb c ports, an updated MagSafe port, and an HDMI port.”
The developer also goes on to add that for the next-gen MacBook Pro, Apple might even consider dropping the “MacBook Pro” name on the inner bezel of the display, which is something that Apple seems to be leaning towards when you look at the new 24-inch iMac versus the 2019 iMac models where the Apple logo has been removed.
What’s interesting about this rumor is the M1X chipset because prior to this, we had heard that Apple was working on the M2. We’re not sure if both models will be released, maybe the M1X could be for the 13-inch model while the potentially more powerful M2 will be for the 16-inch model, but it’s something we’ll have to wait and see.
