During Microsoft’s Build keynote address, the company’s CEO Satya Nadella revealed that the company was working on the next-generation of Windows. “Soon we will share one of the most significant updates to Windows of the past decade to unlock greater economic opportunity for developers and creators. I’ve been self-hosting it over the past several months, and I’m incredibly excited about the next generation of Windows.”
He adds, “Our promise to you is this: we will create more opportunity for every Windows developer today and welcome every creator who is looking for the most innovative, new, open platform to build and distribute and monetize applications. We look forward to sharing more very soon.”
It’s an interesting statement because there have been talks that Microsoft could soon allow for third-party commerce platforms within apps, meaning that developers can use their own payment methods and avoid having to give Microsoft their cut. While Windows 10 is perfectly fine, we suppose change isn’t a bad thing so we can’t wait to see what Microsoft has in store for us.
