The company has announced a new feature called Immersive View, which as you can see in the image above, takes the video source from the participants and places them in new environments. Prior to this, Zoom allowed users to change their backgrounds, but this only affected the user.
However, with Immersive View, it will affect all users so you can make it look like everyone is sitting in the same place. Short of holding virtual reality meetings, this is probably the next best thing.
According to Zoom, “Meeting and webinar hosts can select Zoom’s Immersive View the same way they would select the Speaker or Gallery View. When enabling Immersive View, hosts will have the option to automatically or manually place participants into a virtual scene of their choosing. Hosts can also easily move participants around that scene and even resize a participant’s image for a more natural experience. “
This feature is available for both free and paid users and only one person needs to enable the feature for it to work. Those who are using older versions of the software will just see Zoom in the regular Gallery View or SpeakerView.
