If you were hoping that manufacturers would help alleviate these shortages, it seems that you might want to lower your expectations. This is because as far as NVIDIA is concerned, it seems that the company is predicting that GPU shortages will continue to persist throughout the year of 2021.
During the reveal of the company’s first quarter earnings, Colette Kress, executive vice president and chief financial officer of NVIDIA was quoted as saying, “Overall demand remains very strong and continues to exceed supply while our channel inventories remain quite lean. We expect demand to continue to exceed supply for much of this year. We believe we will have sufficient supply to support sequential growth beyond Q1.”
We’re not sure how tight supply will be, but in the meantime, NVIDIA is looking into potentially reviving its older GPUs, which might not necessarily be as favored amongst crypto miners, but are still good enough to game on.
