On the surface, the new Apple TV doesn’t look any different from its predecessors. However, under the hood is where most of the changes reside. The new Apple TV will be powered by the A12 Bionic chipset and comes with support for HDR and Dolby Vision. It will also support 4K similar to the previous model, although unfortunately the rumors of support for a 120Hz refresh rate did not pan out.
One of the biggest changes Apple will be making to the Apple TV is the launch of a new Siri Remote. The old remote, which featured a trackpad-like surface, was not particularly well-received by users who found it too “slippery”. The new remote is actually more reminiscent of the older remote and comes with a five-way touch controller, an actual power button to turn off your TV, and the Siri search button has also been moved.
The new Apple TV 4K will be priced at $179 for the 32GB model, $199 for the 64GB model, and the new Siri Remote can be bought separately for $59 and will be compatible with the previous two Apple TV generations.
