This is according to a report from The Korea Times in which they claim that Apple is close to finalizing a deal with LG and Magna’s joint partnership also known as the LG Magna e-Powertrain. The partnership between LG and Magna is expected to complete later this year, with Apple being their primary client.
Apple is expected to retain sole branding on their car, meaning that this partnership with LG and Magna would be similar to Apple’s relationship with their own manufacturing partners. This is versus the earlier rumors which suggested that Apple was seeking manufacturing partners with other carmakers in the industry, although there were concerns by some of these companies where they didn’t want to end up being an Apple manufacturing partner, who would essentially be their competitor in the same space.
The earlier reports claimed that Apple had sought out partnerships with Hyundai, although those talks eventually ended with no deal being struck.
