iPhone 13 Pro Max Could Sport A Camera With A Wider Aperture

If you prefer being able to take photos in low light without having to crank the exposure, ISO, or add flash, then that’s where a lens with a larger aperture comes in handy. The good news is that this is something we can look forward to in the iPhone 13 Pro Max, or at least that’s what analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims.

According to the oft-accurate analyst, he believes that for the iPhone 13 Pro, Apple is expected to maintain a similar camera setup as the iPhone 12 Pro Max. However, there will be some slight changes to the main camera’s aperture where apparently Apple will increase the aperture from f/1.6 to f/1.5.

Now, the drop from f/1.6 to f/1.5 might not seem like a lot to most people, but it is kind of a big deal for cameras. This is why sometimes when you see camera lenses on sale, the model with the larger aperture, even if the difference is 0.2 or 0.3, the difference in price can be huge. This is because larger apertures let in more light, which in turn makes the camera “faster” at capturing photos.

This is important not just for low-light shots, but useful for action shots too because a faster camera means the moment can be captured faster and with less blur. For those who might have been hoping for a more drastic camera upgrade, Kuo claims that Apple is reserving those for its 2022 and 2023 models, so you might have to wait.
