In the past couple of years, Facebook has also attempted to become a dating platform, and it looks like those plans are expanding. According to a report from The Verge, Facebook appears to be developing and testing a new speed dating app that relies on video. The new app is called Sparked that is basically virtual speed dating, where participants will have four minutes to speak to a potential partner before cycling on over to the next person.
For those who felt like they might have had a connection, they will then have the option to move onto a second video date, but this time lasting 10 minutes where they are encouraged to exchange contact information. Facebook has since confirmed that this is in development, but they also mention that it is an “early experiment” and that it is only available to a small group of users at the moment.
It sounds like an interesting idea but whether or not it will become an actual feature remains to be seen.
