Casio Unveils Their First Ever G-Shock Smartwatch With Wear OS

Due to smartwatches typically sporting a full touchscreen display, this means that a lot of smartwatches have no choice but to come up with a different form factor from more traditional watches, something that some people might lament. However, if you’re a fan of Casio’s G-Shock series, you’re in luck.

Casio has officially taken the wraps off their first-ever G-Shock smartwatch that is powered by Google’s Wear OS platform. This means that if you like the G-Shock brand and design but also want the smarts that come with a smartwatch, then Google’s Wear OS will be able to deliver on that front.

The watch, externally, looks like a typical G-Shock watch which is great if you value the ruggedness of the G-Shock series. This includes features like being shock-resistant and also water-resistant up to depths of 200 meters, and it also sports a back made from titanium for extra durability.

It also comes with a host of sensors and features that one might expect from a smartwatch, like a heart rate sensor, gyroscope, accelerometer, an altitude/air pressure sensor, GPS, and more. Unfortunately, the watch doesn’t exactly come cheap. The Casio G-Shock GSW-H1000 is priced at $700 and is expected to be available mid-May.
