If the rumors are true, Apple is apparently developing several wearable headsets, one of which is a mixed reality device and one is an augmented reality device, and those are the ones we know about. However, it seems that there is a chance that the latter could be delayed.
This is according to a recent report from DigiTimes who alleges that Apple has fallen behind in terms of prototype testing of its Apple Glasses, the name which is being used to refer to the augmented reality wearable. The report claims that Apple was supposed to begin testing the device in the first quarter of this year, but that has apparently not yet happened.
Given that the device will probably need to go through various iterations and improvements, delays means that any possible launch will be pushed back. The company was supposed to move into volume production as early as the first quarter of 2022, but chances of that happening now seems highly unlikely.
To be fair, Apple has never confirmed the existence of such a device so for all we know, it might not even exist. Plus Apple has never given any indication of when such a device could launch, so it’s hard to tell whether or not this so-called delay is really a delay. Either way, the rumors all suggest it could be a while before we even see it, so we’ll just have to wait.
