A few years ago, Apple introduced the Touch Bar to its MacBook Pro laptops. The feature was meant to be a game changer in terms of laptop design and functionality, but it kind of fell flat. In fact, recent rumors have suggested that for future MacBook Pro models, Apple might end up ditching the feature.
It seems that the rumors could be true, kind of. According to recently leaked details, it seems that the upcoming 2021 MacBook Pro could see Apple ditch the Touch Bar, meaning that we could see the return of physical F-keys. The report also details how the upcoming laptop could also see Apple bring back more ports to the laptop, where previously it only had four USB-C/Thunderbolt ports and a headphone jack.
Assuming these details are accurate, it claims that for the 2021 MacBook Pro, we could be looking at the inclusion of a HDMI port, a USB-C port, and an SD card slot on the right side of the laptop. On the left side, we could be looking at a MagSafe connector, two USB-C ports, and a headphone jack.
These leaked details come courtesy of schematics that were allegedly stolen by a hacking group. The group had stolen the schematics from Quanta, one of Apple’s main suppliers, and threatened to release details daily unless Apple pays them $50 million in ransom, but this leak clearly shows that Apple isn’t willing or has yet to pay.
