The company has officially announced their own foldable phone in the form of the Xiaomi Mi Mix Fold. In terms of design, the Mi Mix Fold follows a more “traditional” foldable phone design, where it closes up like a book when shut, and unfolds into a tablet-esque form factor when it is opened.
When unfolded, we’re looking at an 8.01-inch 4:3 OLED display with a 2480×1860 resolution. According to Xiaomi, the display is capable of withstanding 200,000 folds, so you should be able to get a few years out of it. It also has a 6.52-inch display on the outside that comes with a 90Hz refresh rate.
Xiaomi has also included Harman Kardon tuned speakers that the company claims will offer 3D panoramic sound. As for the hardware, given that this is a high-end device, it will use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset with 12-16GB of RAM and up to 512GB of onboard storage. It has a 5,020mAh battery, a triple camera setup that uses liquid lens technology that consists of a telephoto lens, an ultrawide lens, and a 108MP Samsung HMX main sensor.
The phone is expected to ship on the 16th of April where it will be priced starting at 9,999 yuan (~$1,521) but for now, it seems to be only available in China.
