Samsung’s 2021 Smart TV Lineup Will Include AirPlay 2 Support

Do you want to be able to stream content from your phone or computer to your TV wirelessly? There are several ways to do that, but if you’ve bought into the Apple ecosystem, AirPlay 2 is your friend, but unfortunately the protocol isn’t exactly available across multiple TV brands, unless you don’t mind springing for one of Samsung’s 2021 TV models.

The company has announced their new 2021 smart TV lineup and one of the features is that it will support AirPlay 2. For those who are unfamiliar, AirPlay 2 is Apple’s wireless protocol that allows iOS and macOS users to stream content wirelessly to supported devices, whether it be a TV or a set of speakers.

It differs slightly from Bluetooth where AirPlay 2 will piggyback off your home’s WiFi network, which some might argue makes it more stable compared to Bluetooth, although given that it is exclusive to Apple’s devices, non-Apple users probably don’t really have that much of a choice to begin with.

In addition to supporting AirPlay 2, Samsung’s 2021 TVs will also come with the Apple TV app installed. This will give their TVs almost similar functionality to the Apple TV set-top box, plus it will also give users access to content from Apple TV+, if they are subscribed.
