While Nintendo has denied that they have plans to launch an updated Switch model, it would make sense if they did. After all, there are new entrants to the console market in the form of the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, and it would be smart of Nintendo to keep the attention on themselves by launching an updated console.
When exactly that will happen remains to be seen, but according to a report from Bloomberg, some details about the upcoming Nintendo Switch “Pro” model have been revealed. According to the report, they claim that one of the upgrades of the Switch Pro is the ability to support games in 4K, something that the Switch is missing at the moment where it can only support 1080p, and that’s only if it is docked and connected to a TV.
The report also goes on to claim that Nintendo will be making the console’s display larger where instead of 6.2-inches, which is the current size, they’ll be bumping it up to 7-inches and will be utilizing an OLED display. However, like we said, Nintendo had previously mentioned that they will not be launching a new Switch model anytime soon, so it remains to be seen if Bloomberg’s sources prove to be accurate.
