According to Microsoft, “Innovation has been part of Microsoft Edge since day one, whether you’re seamlessly accessing corporate apps online for work or saving money shopping with built-in coupons. As contributors to the Chromium project, we look forward to the new 4-week major release cycle cadence that Google announced, to help deliver that innovation to our customers even faster.”
Microsoft seems to be taking a fresh approach to its native Windows browser. The company has stuck with Internet Explorer for years on end, only with Windows 10 did they introduce something new with Edge. However, that didn’t last long as Microsoft later decided to revamp Edge by rebuilding it on Chromium, the same platform that Google uses for Chrome, thus making it compatible with the same browser extensions that users have used with Chrome in the past.
Recently, the company has ended support for the legacy version of Chrome and will be replacing it on Windows 10 computers with the Chromium version in the April update.
