There is an app on iOS called Call Recorder. It is as its name suggests, where this is a third-party call recording app. However, it seems that a recently discovered bug has resulted in the app being a bit of a privacy leak because due to the bug, it could actually allow others to listen in on your calls.
This bug was discovered by Anand Prakash of PingSafe AI where he found that due to the bug, he was able to replace the number he had initially registered with the app to another number belonging to a different user. As a result, if that user were to make call recordings, he was able to access those recordings as well.
Thankfully, this bug has since been fixed in the latest update to the app. Prakash discovered the bug on the 27th of February and the patch was issued on the 6th of March. The update will bump the app’s version up to version 2.26, so if you haven’t updated it in a while and you do use the app quite often, then you’ll want to make sure that it’s updated to prevent any potential leaks.
That being said, we do want to caution you regarding the use of call recording apps. This is because in some states/countries, it might be illegal to record a call, while others might require you to gain consent, or at least let the other person know that the call is being recorded.
