Usually companies like Apple or Google create tools that make it easier for users to migrate from a competing platform over onto theirs. However, interestingly enough, it seems that Apple has gone the other direction. The company has recently launched a new tool that will help iCloud users transfer their photos and videos over to Google Photos.
Like we said, you would think that Apple would make a tool to bring Google Photos users over to iCloud, but if you do have a Google Photos account, this might actually come in handy. The process seems simple enough where you just need to have two-factor authentication enabled on your Apple ID and also be signed into your Google Photos account and have enough storage.
After that, the transfer is expected to take between three and seven days, so it’s by no means a quick process, but it will eventually get done. Like we said, it is also rather simple to use. It should be noted that during this transfer, the photos and videos stored in iCloud are not removed. Instead this service pretty much just creates a copy of those photos and videos and stores them in Google Photos.
It’s not a bad idea to have a backup or a backup just in case anything happens, although you might want to take note that Google will be ending their free unlimited storage for Google Photos soon, so you’ll need to purchase additional storage if needed.
