Companies like NVIDIA have encouraged retailers to sell their GPUs to gamers and not miners, but it seems that not all of NVIDIA’s partners agree. ZOTAC USA, one of the companies that make NVIDIA GPUs, was caught on social media where they seem to have endorsed the use of GPUs for cryptocurrency mining.
The post has since been taken down, but not before a screenshot was captured by the folks at VideoCardz. ZOTAC’s decision to make such a post drew a lot of flack from PC gamers who called the company out on their post. To be fair, companies like ZOTAC are free to sell their products to whomever they want. After all, it’s up to the user to decide how they want to use their purchases.
However, at the same time, many gamers do seem annoyed at how difficult it is to get one of NVIDIA’s RTX 30 series GPUs, and how it doesn’t seem “fair” that miners are snapping up supply in bulk, leaving them high and dry in the process.
