You would think that these types of actions would be considered illegal, but apparently it’s not, but that could change in the UK. According to reports, it appears that politicians in the UK are now stepping up and proposing that scalping be banned, which means that it could eventually lead to it becoming an illegal activity.
According to Douglas Chapman MP who made a statement to IGN, “Given that experts in the cyber industry now predict the issue of scalping to grow across other important goods and services this year, we are looking at presenting a Bill in Parliament so that we can further explore legislative options to protect consumers from this unfair practice.”
That being said, the publication does note that Early Day Motions such as these are typically used to highlight current issues, but they rarely reach a House of Commons debate and eventually become a legislation, but either way it does seem like a problem that needs to be addressed.
