One of the benefits of devices like the Ring video doorbell is that it comes with a two-way intercom system. This means that even if you’re not home, you can use the camera to see who’s at the door and use the intercom to speak to that person remotely. It’s useful, but that’s assuming you have the time to use the feature.
So what happens if you’re busy? In an announcement on the Ring blog, the company has revealed that they are now pushing out a new update to their smart doorbells. This update will introduce the ability for Ring users to create pre-recorded messages that can be played when someone’s at the door and you’re not there to answer, or it can also use Alexa to take down a message from the person.
Ring has also introduced new motion alerts to its wired doorbell and also its wired cameras so that it the motion sensor is triggered, it will play an audible alert to let the person know that they are being recorded to make it clear that if they’re there for nefarious reasons, like stealing items off the user’s porch, they are being recorded which can be used as evidence.
All these features can be enabled or disabled if you want, but it’ll be there in case you wish to take advantage of it.
