This new keyboard from Razer uses the company’s Analog Optical switches which will allow users to customize the keyboard to extremely deep levels. This includes being able to adjust the actuation point of the switch, where a shallower actuation point would result in faster response, but a deeper actuation would allow users to enjoy the typing experience even more.
There is also inclusion of features like dual-step actuation, where users can set two different actuation points and program them to do different things. According to Razer, “It essentially offers twice as much functionality per keystroke and is suitable for activating advanced combos in games – such as taking out a grenade and throwing it in the same keystroke.”
The use of the Analog Optical switches also results in an analog input similar to that of an analog joystick, which removes the limits of using a keyboard for directional games. It’s an interesting idea but as we haven’t tried it ourselves, it’s hard to say how it might feel in real-life. If you are keen on the keyboard, then you might be interested to learn that it will be available for purchase via Razer’s website for $250.
