The unified Office app was previously available for the iPhone and strangely enough not for the iPad, but that has changed as Microsoft has since launched the unified version of Office for the iPad. Prior to this, users who wanted to use this version of Office had to use the iPhone version on the iPad, which is obviously a less-than-ideal scenario due to the difference in size and also how the UI elements were designed for a phone, not a tablet.
According to Microsoft, “Office is now available on iPad: We’re combining the Word, Excel, and PowerPoint apps you know into a single, iPadOS-optimized app. Plus, you’ll see additional tools to keep you more productive than ever. For example, you’ll be able to quickly create and sign PDFs, and transform pictures into documents.”
At the moment, Office for the iPad is free to download and use to a certain extent, although iPad Pro users and those who want to unlock the full potential of the app will need a subscription to Microsoft 365.
