Dota 2 is one of the most played games around the world, with Valve hosting an annual tournament that brings the best players together with prize money that puts more traditional sporting competitions to shame. That being said, we’re not surprised that they are looking to expand on the franchise.
For fans of the Dota 2 game, you’ll be very interested and excited to learn that Netflix has announced that they will be launching an animated series based on the game. It will be premiering on the 25th of March 2021, which means that we only have a little over a month before we’ll be able to check it out.
Called Dota: Dragon’s Blood, this series will focus on the Dragon Knight character and Princess Mirana. According to the synopsis, “The sweeping fantasy series tells the story of Davion, a renowned Dragon Knight devoted to wiping the scourge from the face of the world. Following encounters with a powerful, ancient eldwurm as well as the noble Princess Mirana on a secret mission of her own, Davion becomes embroiled in events much larger than he could have ever imagined.”
Given that Dota 2 is mostly a multiplayer game, it’s hard to incorporate lore into it unlike more traditional RPGs, so this would be a good chance for Valve to provide fans of the game a bit more backstory.
