They are also reassuring gamers that the systems that were compromised did not contain any data belonging to gamers, so players won’t have to worry about their personal information being stolen.

However, what was allegedly stolen are the source codes for games such as Cyberpunk 2077, Witcher 3, Gwent, and what the hackers claim is an “unreleased” version of Witcher 3, which could have been an early demo of the game. The hackers are holding this data ransom and are threatening to release it online if their demands aren’t met.
CD Projekt has stated in their statement that they do not intend to give in to the demands or negotiate with the hackers, and have already reached out to the relevant authorities, and have already taken steps to “mitigate the consequences of such a release”, whatever that may be.
