The carrier has announced that they are now expanding on their prepaid 5G plans in which they will now offer mmWave as one of the options. As 9to5Mac notes, last month Verizon had launched sub-6GHz prepaid plans for the iPhone 12, but now it looks like iPhone 12 users will have the option of paying for the mmWave plans instead.
The carrier already offers a variety of plans, but for those who want to take advantage of mmWave’s faster speeds, the only option available to prepaid customers right now would be the $75 plan. This is versus Verizon’s other 5G prepaid plans that start at $40 a month. mmWave was also only previously available to postpaid customers, so it’s good to see that Verizon has expanded it to prepaid customers who might otherwise not want to be locked into a postpaid plan or contract.
That being said, if you don’t want to pay $75 a month, sub-6GHz is still a pretty good alternative. While it won’t be as fast compared to mmWave, it is still faster compared to LTE so it is still an upgrade all the same.
