When it comes to computer mice, apart from the design and how many buttons it comes with, there are other features that some might find useful, such as its speed. For regular users, this might not necessarily be that big of a deal, but for gamers who need to react quickly to things, speed is a top priority.
Razer has since announced their latest gaming mouse in the form of the Viper 8KHz, which the company is boasting is the world’s fastest gaming mouse. While we can’t attest to those claims as we haven’t tried it ourselves, some of its features, at least on paper, suggests that the company’s boast isn’t empty.
According to Razer, they have equipped the Viper 8KHz with the company’s HyperPolling Technology that will give the mouse an 8,000Hz polling rate. This is essentially the rate at which input from the mouse is sent to your computer. For the most part, the industry standard is set at 1,000Hz, which means that the data sent to your PC from your mouse is at 1,000 times a second.
We imagine that this is more than adequate for most, but for those who feel like they need more, then the Viper 8KHz essentially octuples that amount. The mouse itself is a wired mouse and comes with 7 + 1 buttons, a 20,000 DPI Focus+ optical sensor, and it also uses Razer’s Optical Mouse Switches. It is priced at $80 and is available for purchase via Razer’s website.
