New Philips Hue Switch Module Gives You A New Way Of Controlling Your Smart Lights

Controlling your smart lights is usually either done via its accompanying app or you can use a physical switch and turn it on or off the good old fashioned way. The problem with the latter is that if you turned the light off via the switch, you can’t turn it back on with the app, which does create some confusion.

However, to solve this issue, Signify has since unveiled a new device called the Philips Hue wall switch module. This is designed to sit behind an existing light switch, which in turn converts an existing switch into a smart one. This means that with the wall switch module installed, even if you turn the lights off via the physical switch, you have the option of turning it back on through the software.

In addition to turning traditional switches into smart switches, the wall switch module can also be configured via the Hue app to do other things. For example, instead of merely acting as a switch for your lights, you can now turn your switch into a preset where it can be used to activate or deactivate certain scenes.

Installing the Philips Hue wall switch module seems to be rather straightforward and since it uses batteries, which the company says is good for at least five years, you should be able to do it yourself if you’re so inclined. The wall switch module will be priced at $40 for 1-pack, or $70 for a 2-pack and will be released in the summer of 2021.
