Nintendo certainly turned things around for themselves following the debacle that was the Wii U. The Switch has managed to captivate gamers around the world, thanks to its fun family games, strong first-party titles, and also its hybrid nature that allows gamers to play it on the game or on a TV at home.
So much so that despite it being almost four years ago, analysts in the gaming industry believe that the Switch is expected to continue to dominate the market, and that for 2021, the console will outsell newcomers like the PS5 and Xbox Series X and S. While there have been rumors that Nintendo could launch a 4K capable Switch called the Switch Pro, analyst Mat Piscatella believes that the strong content available for the platform, along with promotions, will help the console stay on top.
The Nintendo Switch has been doing very well for itself, where last year it was reported that over in Japan, the Switch actually surpassed the Wii’s lifetime sales. This is quite impressive when you consider that the Wii was also a megahit back in the day. Based on the statistics, it appears that despite it being somewhat “old”, sales of the console continue to rise.
It remains to be seen whether or not the Switch will indeed outsell its newer and more powerful competitors, but what do you think?
