Another Report Claims iPhone 13 Could Support WiFi 6E

According to the rumors, Apple’s iPhone for 2021 is going to be treated as more of a “S” version, which means that the upgrades will be mostly under the hood and that we shouldn’t expect any design changes. However, one of those upgrades could be interesting as it could come in the form of faster WiFi.

The iPhone 12 currently supports WiFi 6 which seems par for the course for devices released in this day and age, but according to MacRumors, they obtained a report from analysts at Barclays in which the analysts, Blayne Curtis and Thomas O’Malley, claim that the iPhone 13 could support WiFi 6E.

This is not the first time we’re hearing about this, so if anything, the new report corroborates what we’ve heard from earlier. For those unfamiliar, WiFi 6E is an upgraded version of WiFi 6. For the most part it shares similar features of WiFi 6, such as faster speeds, lower latency, and more. However, it has the added advantage of being able to tap into the 6GHz band.

Right now, WiFi exists on the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, so by expanding into 6GHz, it should allow users to tap into increased bandwidth and experience less interference, assuming that they devices that do support WiFi 6E. Realistically, we imagine that the differences might not necessarily be noticeable for most users, but at least the option is there for those who can take advantage of it.
